🎯
When to use this — you've started selling into a state where you have nexus, the Registration health check on the Filings page flags a state, or your HOST advisor has told you to register.
</aside>
Before you start
- [ ] Setup is complete (WI-2 · Complete your company setup) — the Register button on Jurisdictions is enabled (you need the Contributor or Manager role to see it)
- [ ] The nexus start date you want (HOST recommends the 1st of a coming month)
- [ ] Whether the nexus is economic or physical; for physical, the in-state address and, where the state asks, your Secretary of State number
- [ ] A card for the registration fee

⚠️
This flow asks HOST to register your business with the state. It is not for recording a registration you already hold — for that, contact your advisor, or add the state to filings directly (WI-4 · Set up managed filings and add a state).

Steps

The Register in jurisdictions window with Florida ticked: fill in the Nexus start date and Nexus type for each selected state.
- Sidebar → Compliance → Jurisdictions → Register. (Or Dashboard → Register in a jurisdiction.)
- Choose the United States or Canada tab.
- Tick each jurisdiction you need. A row shown in amber has something missing — usually a document. Click its Upload link (or Blank form to fetch the official form first), upload the file, and the row turns Ready to register. Registering in several states? Use Apply to all selected to fill the date and nexus type for every ticked row at once.
- For each ticked row:
- Nexus start date — pick the 1st of a coming month. If you pick another date, read the confirmation and click Continue only if you intend to back-file.
- Nexus type — Economic or Physical. For Physical, choose the physical nexus type and fill in the address and any Secretary of State number.
- Tick I have read and agree to the Terms & conditions.
- Click Register (N). Pay on the checkout page (promo codes go there). Nothing is created until the payment succeeds. If the total is $0 there's no checkout — you'll see "Registered in N jurisdiction(s)."
- You're returned to Jurisdictions, where Payment received. Finishing your registration… shows for a moment, then "Registered in N jurisdiction(s)."
Done when
- The state is blue (Registration in progress) on the map and has a Registration Submitted date in the table
- Later, it turns green (Registered) and shows a Sales Tax Id once HOST has the account number
