When to use this โ€” a state shows Not Registered on the Certificates dashboard, you've just received a new state registration, or you need to correct an account number.

ResaleCertify does not register you with any state. It records registrations you already hold. If you aren't registered in a state, adding a row here does not make you registered โ€” it produces a certificate asserting something untrue.

Steps โ€” adding one at a time

  1. In the sidebar, click Jurisdictions.
  2. Click Add Registration (top right).
  3. Choose the state from the Jurisdiction dropdown.
  4. Type the number into Sales Tax ID.
  5. Click Save.

Some states check the shape of the number; some don't. Where a state publishes a pattern, you get a live format hint and Save stays disabled until the value matches. Texas, for example, rejects a short number with Expected format: ########### (# = any digit).

Other states โ€” California among them โ€” have no pattern on file, so anything you type is accepted. Absence of a complaint is not confirmation that your number is right. Check it against your registration certificate yourself.

The dropdown only offers states you haven't already registered, so a duplicate is impossible from the UI.

Steps โ€” importing several at once

  1. Jurisdictions โ†’ Add Multiple.
  2. Click Download CSV Template โ€” the header is Jurisdiction,SalesTaxId.
  3. Fill one row per state. The first column takes either a two-letter code (TX) or the full name (Texas).
