Transactions is the sales data HOST files from. Each month you upload a CSV or Excel export from your sales systems (or let an integration send it — see 10. Integrations). Files are checked before anything is imported, nothing is imported until you review and submit, and the import is complete only when the email HOST sends afterwards says it succeeded. The portal never shows that result.

Where this lives

Two pages, both for managed-filing clients only. Sidebar → Compliance → Import Transactions (/import) is where you upload a file, follow it through Import history, review it and submit it. The entry is shown to contributors and managers; a viewer who opens the page sees only a note that uploading needs the contributor role. Sidebar → Compliance → Transactions (/transactions) is the table of imported rows, with filters and export, and an Import button that opens the Import Transactions page.

The Import Transactions page while uploads are open: the Upload button, the Upload deadline strip, and Import history with a file in each state.

The upload window

Uploads are accepted from the 1st through 11:59:59 PM Eastern on the 7th of each month, so HOST can prepare returns for the prior month. While uploads are open, the Import Transactions page shows an Upload deadline strip with a running countdown and HOST's note on what happens to data received late; it turns red inside the last day. Once closed, the Upload button is absent and a pill beside where it was reads Uploads reopen <date>.

Upload extension

If HOST has enabled it for your account, the 8th and 9th are a grace period: a Buy extension button appears beside the pill (the wizard shows the same offer if you try to upload). It opens Extend this month's upload window, which shows the fee and sends you to Stripe to pay; you're brought straight back and uploads reopen until 11:59:59 PM Eastern on the 9th. An extension covers one month only, and nothing can be uploaded after the 9th, extension or not. From the 10th the window is closed until the 1st.

Uploading a file — the four-step wizard

On the Import Transactions page, click Upload to open Import transactions. The step strip at the top shows the wizard's four steps and then, marked After this window, the three stages that follow: We check the file › You review and submit › Our email confirms it. Every step after the first also carries an amber Not done until you get our email notice: the wizard only uploads and checks the file.

Step 1 — How it works

The wizard opens on How it works: the four stages, the finish-line reminder, and the acknowledgement box that unlocks the next step.

The wizard opens on an overview of the whole process, which you must read and acknowledge before choosing a file:

  1. Upload and map your file (you). Everything this window does.
  2. We check the file (Sales Tax Center). A few minutes; the result appears under Import history, not in the wizard.
  3. You review and submit (you). Until you submit, nothing is imported.
  4. We import it and email you the result (Sales Tax Center). The final validation report goes to the email address you sign in with. You are done only when that email says the import succeeded; if it lists errors, fix them and upload again.

Tick I understand that nothing is imported until I review and submit the checked file from Import history, and that only the email I receive after that confirms the import, then click I understand, choose a file. The button stays disabled until the box is ticked.
